Teaching Public Yoga Classes Through a Trauma-Informed Lens Foundational Workshop
This 4-hour foundational workshop will focus on creating a safe and healing space for students currently taking public yoga classes. It is estimated that 1 in 4 people is a survivor of trauma. There ARE trauma survivors in your classes. Because of the nature of yoga and its connection to the body, students can easily be triggered or re-traumatized in the same practice that is supposed to promote healing.
Melissa and Gwen will provide a foundational understanding of the trauma that your students may have experienced, explain how traditional approaches to yoga may be re-traumatizing and will demonstrate simple and practical changes that you can make in all of your classes to assure that they are and remain trauma-informed.
This workshop is for yoga teachers, yoga teacher trainees, service providers and anyone interested in offering trauma-informed yoga.
